How it works

From first conversation to tax season. One path, four steps.

This is a service, not software. Here's what actually happens.

1
Week 1

15-minute readiness call

Tell us about your business. We'll recommend the tier that fits. Mixed accounts, missing receipts, months of backlog: all common starting points. Bring what you have.

2
Enrollment

Letter and billing

You review and sign the engagement letter. Set up your payment method. Once both are done, we take it from there and start getting your account ready.

3
Setup

Onboarding and bank feeds

We set up your accounting software. You connect your bank feeds (read-only, no passwords needed). We organize past transactions, and you get an app to snap receipts from your phone. By the end, your bookkeeper is ready to start.

4
Active service

Monthly close & tax-readiness report

Every month, your bookkeeper reviews your books and closes them out. Your Client Account Manager sends you a clean summary. You also get a tax-readiness report that tracks your numbers from January through December.

Who it's for

Built for owners who'd rather run the business than run the books.

We built this around three real people we've been enrolling since the pilot started. If one of them sounds like you, we're the right fit.

The Reluctant Organizer

"I have a business, but I don't want to run spreadsheets."

Who they areRideshare drivers, freelancers, gig workers. Receipts on the phone, mileage half-tracked, bank account shared with groceries.
What they're avoidingTax surprises. IRS scrutiny. Missed deductions. Year-end chaos.
What we handleCategorization, reconciliation, tax-prep readiness, proactive alerts.
Typical fit → Tier 1 (Stability)

The Growing Operator

"My business is scaling. My admin isn't keeping up."

Who they areContractors, consultants, service-business owners. 50–200 transactions a month. Starting to hire, starting to feel behind.
What they're avoidingOutgrowing the current system. Missed growth signals. Cash-flow surprises. Over-paying taxes.
What we handleFull categorization, expense tracking, quarterly check-ins, strategic recommendations.
Typical fit → Tier 2 (Growth)

The DIY Graduate

"I've outgrown QuickBooks. I'm not ready for a CPA."

Who they areSmall business owners running QuickBooks or spreadsheets. Workflows fragmented across too many tools. Month-end close keeps slipping.
What they're avoidingAnother software learning curve. $400+/month CPA fees. Reconstructing the books when something breaks.
What we handleMigration from your current setup. Standardized monthly close. Tax readiness built in.
Typical fit → Tier 3 (Strategic)
Enrolled in the pilot: Rideshare drivers · Freelance designers · Real estate agents · Consultants · Hairstylists · Etsy sellers · Contractors · Personal trainers
How we're different

Better than DIY. Cheaper than a CPA.

Most self-employed and small business owners are stuck choosing between software they have to learn and an accountant they can't afford. Bookkeeping+ is the third option. Built for where you are.

Common questions

Before you book the consultation.

Do I have to use Jackson Hewitt for my taxes?

No. You can keep your existing Tax Pro and use us just for bookkeeping. We produce clean monthly records and a tax-readiness report at year-end. Your Tax Pro can be Jackson Hewitt or someone else.

How is this different from QuickBooks?

QuickBooks is software you run. This is a service we run for you. You don't learn anything. You don't log in every month. We reconcile your accounts, categorize your transactions, and deliver a summary. You can still see everything in the software (Xero, which we provide) whenever you want.

Is this done by AI or by a real person?

Both. AI handles the repetitive work: categorizing transactions, matching receipts, flagging anomalies. A bookkeeper reviews every monthly close and handles judgment calls. Your Client Account Manager is the person you talk to. The goal isn't to remove people. It's to remove drudgery.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Month-to-month, no setup fees, no cancellation fees. You can cancel anytime, upgrade or downgrade between tiers at the next billing cycle.

How much work do I have to do?

Very little. We'll get your software set up and guide you through connecting your bank feeds. After that, we mostly only need you to respond to occasional questions. If you'd rather be more hands-on, you get 24/7 access to the full accounting software.

What do I need to get started?

Just enough to have a real conversation: your business structure (Sole Proprietor, LLC, etc.), your monthly transaction volume roughly, and whether you're already using any bookkeeping software. We'll recommend a tier on the readiness call.

If you decide to move forward, we'll help you set up bank feeds in the software. We don't need your credentials: read-only access is all we need to see your transactions and categorize them. We handle the rest.

How long is the first call?

About 15 minutes. It's a discovery conversation. Your Client Account Manager introduces themselves, you share how your business operates, and together you confirm whether Bookkeeping+ is a good fit.

My records aren't perfect. Can you still help?

Yes. Mixed accounts, missing receipts, months of backlog: all common starting points. Bring what you have, and we work through the rest together.

What does "tax-ready" actually mean?

Your income and expenses are categorized every month using the structure your tax return needs. When tax season arrives, there's no cleanup, no catch-up, no "where did this $400 go?" You hand the tax-readiness report to your Tax Pro and filing goes faster.

What's not included?

Bookkeeping+ is bookkeeping. It doesn't include tax return preparation, tax planning, financial advisory, payroll processing, or entity formation. Those are separate services, and some aren't offered through Jackson Hewitt at all.

Tax season doesn't have to be stressful.

Start with a free consultation. No cost. No obligation. We'll tell you if Bookkeeping+ is right for you. If it isn't, we'll tell you that too.
